Mechanism of action

Permanganate acts as a strong oxidizing agent. It disrupts microbial cell membranes and denatures proteins, leading to cell death. The oxidative action of permanganate also facilitates the breakdown of toxins and harmful substances in the tissue.

Pharmacodynamics

The pharmacodynamic effects of permanganate are primarily attributed to its ability to oxidize bacterial cell constituents and disrupt their metabolic processes. This results in bactericidal activity against a broad spectrum of microorganisms, including bacteria and fungi.

Pharmacokinetics
