Mechanism of action

Almagate acts as a buffering agent, reacting with hydrochloric acid in the stomach to form aluminum chloride, magnesium chloride, and water. This reaction reduces gastric acidity, leading to an increase in gastric pH, which helps to relieve symptoms associated with acid overproduction.

The pharmacodynamics of almagate involve its capacity to neutralize gastric acid, which in turn decreases pepsin activity and promotes mucosal healing.
